Motivation[edit]
GBIF recently started using this ID to allow biogeographic searches by admin area (see https://twitter.com/GBIF/status/1314209461657989125). It's probably used in other things, but this is an interesting link between places and biology. 99of9 (talk) 07:54, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
